Curriculum
We provide a play-based program that strives to provide many opportunities for outdoor learning. Our program creates a classroom environment, both inside and outside, that provides opportunities for students to engage in social activities while working on specific skill-building activities for each child. Our Christian curriculum follows the same path by focusing on the 8 core values of Creation, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook, and Nutrition. Through play-based activities and proven teaching strategies, this curriculum provides education for the whole child - soul, body, and mind.
Our Facilities
Our preschool is a warm and welcoming space where children learn through play and exploration. With plenty of outdoor areas for nature-based activities, kids have the freedom to run, climb, and discover the world around them. Inside, our classrooms are designed to be safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate, encouraging hands-on learning and social growth. We create an environment where curiosity is nurtured, friendships blossom, and every child feels excited to learn.
FAQ
How do you group children?
We have two classrooms in our program that serve a mixed-aged group. This style of group care provides many opportunities for all students to learn at their own developmental level while connecting with peers through leading and following.
We accept students as young as 2 years 6 months. This is the age that children begin to transition out of the toddler years and into a preschool mindset. Our preschool classroom is a mixed-age classroom with students aged 2.5 to 6 years old.
Is there space in the program to enroll my child?
We love to welcome new students to our program and accept students throughout the year. Email SonflowerChristianPreschool@gmail.com to find out about our current openings or click this link for further information.
What will the first day look like for my child? How do you handle seperation anxiety?
Through the use of technology, we document your child's educational journey through pictures, notes, and formal assessments. We utilize the Brightwheel platform as our main source of communication with parents including sign-ins, health records, and teacher communications to parents.

Teachers communicate with all parents at the beginning and end of each day to ensure that we continue a personal connection between all families.
How frequently are toys and classroom cleaned and sanitized?
Toys and classroom are cleaned and sanitized every day as well as throughout the day as needed. We sanitize all handled materials using the recommended sanitizing solution of bleach and water per Colorado early childhood health standards. We also constantly have air purifiers in the classroom to ensure that the air is cleaned as well. Staff complete daily cleaning to ensure a fresh room for students. As needed the program will be deep cleaned, including professional sanitizing services.
What is your Discipline Policy?
Discipline is a process that is continuously developing throughout life. We promote a positive discipline program that focuses on education, guidance, and support while learning new skills.
Teachers model through their own actions as well as through lessons and teachable moments. We ensure that we communicate the different skills we are working on with families to ensure that parents and teachers are partnering in the child's development.
If there is an issue that is not easily resolved with the methods above teachers will work with parents to develop a thorough and productive plan of action.
What are your Hours and Schedule?
Our program opens Monday through Friday at 8 am. Our program provides safe and nurturing care until 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
We love working with the different needs of our families and creating a schedule that works best for your needs. We provide 2-5 day a week schedules to suit your needs.
At what age does Sonflower Christian Preschool accept students?
The first day of preschool looks different for every child. We schedule a time for each child to meet our program teachers and take a walk through the classroom with their family. This helps to develop trust and comfort for the child - helping them to understand that preschool is a safe place to be.
If your child has high anxiety, we are happy to have parents join us during our outside portions of our school day.
We do not encourage parents to "disappear" at drop-off. Separation anxiety is expected during this developmental stage, as they have only learned that Mom and Dad are safe and secure. During tricky separation times, we will support the child's emotional response of sadness and upset while balancing with proven separation strategies including the time to feel our big emotions, bringing a comfort object from home, and activity engagement.
How will I know what kind of day my child had?
What is the child to staff ratio?
Our program provides a student to staff ratio that is guided by the NAEYC and recognized as a high-quality indicator. We ensure that there is 1 teacher for every 6 students.
